Modeling state-level water quality management: the case of the Neuse River Basin
نویسنده
چکیده
This research considers how the perceived costs of achieving water quality objectives are sensitive to three issues surrounding model structure and policy design. These issues Ž . Ž . include: i the extent of the regulated market, ii the responsibility of the regulated market Ž . for background pollution, and iii the use of alternative policy instruments. A large-scale process model is used to evaluate and compare the costs of nutrient reduction in the Neuse River Basin in North Carolina under various instruments, including a plan currently being considered by state regulators. The results emphasize the importance of flexibility in both model structure and policy design. q 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. JEL classification: Q0; Q2

Impact of structural geology on integrated water resources modeling improvement; a case study of Garesoo river basin, in Doab-Merek station, Kermanshah, Iran
Garesoo river basin in Doab-Merek, as studying area of this research, located in northwest of Kermanshah province in west part of Iran. There is long-term hydro climatologic data in this basin about rainfall, temperature, etc. (more than 50 years) and main river data (about 35 years). Due to intense fall down groundwater level and seasonal river drying, in the past 10 years .It was necessary th...
متن کاملIntegrated Planning of Water Resources Based on Sustainability Indices, a Case Study: Hamoon- Jazmorian Basin
Nowadays, the water supply and water demand management are the main issues in water resources planning. It is more important in a river basin with a complex system facing with droughts, climate changes, inter-basin water transfer and operational and under study dams. In this paper, for water resources planning in a river basin and reducing the difference between water resources and water demand...
متن کاملA Case Study of Water Quality Modeling of the Gargar River, Iran
Human activities in the recent years have considerably increased the rate of water pollution in many regions of the world. In this case study, the main sources of wastewater discharging into the Gargar River were identified. Using river and point source flow rates and water quality parameters measured along the river, the river water quality was simulated using a commonly used, one-dimensional ...
متن کاملCase study Malaysia: Spatial water quality assessment of Juru, Kuantan and Johor River Basins using environmetric techniques
This study investigates spatial water quality assessment of selected river basins in the three different states in Malaysia. Environmetric techniques namely, cluster analysis (CA), principal component analysis (PCA), and discriminant analysis (DA), were applied to study the spatial variations of the most significant water quality variables in order to determine the origin of pollution sources ...

Climate changes pose great threats to the main services of ecosystems such as food security, water security and health. This research was carried out in Haraz river basin rangelands, Mazandaran province in the north of Iran in 2015-2017 to analyze the perspectives of Haraz river basin (HRB) pastoralists about climate change. From 5236 local pastoralists, the sample size was consisted of 350 one...
